Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide (5 amino acids) belonging to the growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) family. As a highly effective agonist of the GHRH receptor (GHRH‑R), it specifically induces growth hormone (GH) release from the anterior pituitary by mimicking the activity of the endogenous hormone ghrelin. A key advantage over earlier GHRP compounds (e.g., GHRP‑6, Hexarelin) is its high selectivity—it effectively promotes pulsatile GH secretion without significantly affecting cortisol or prolactin levels. This feature makes it an ideal tool for studying GH‑specific regulatory pathways. Structurally, Ipamorelin contains an Aib (α‑aminoisobutyric acid) residue at the N‑terminus, which enhances resistance to enzymatic degradation, and a C‑terminal amide modification that ensures full biological activity. Based on these properties, Ipamorelin is widely used in endocrinology, metabolic regulation, and in vitro studies of GH‑related mechanisms.

Product FAQ
What is Ipamorelin?
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide belonging to the growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP) family. It is a highly selective agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) that effectively stimulates the pituitary gland to release endogenous growth hormone (GH). Compared to other GHRPs, Ipamorelin's notable feature is its high specificity—it primarily stimulates GH release with minimal effect on stress hormones such as ACTH, cortisol, and prolactin (PRL).
What is the mechanism of action of Ipamorelin?
Ipamorelin works by binding to and activating the GHS-R1a receptor on the anterior pituitary gland, triggering the synthesis and pulsatile release of growth hormone. The resulting GH pulses stimulate the liver to produce IGF-1, which mediates most of the anabolic effects. Unlike other GHRPs, Ipamorelin is highly selective and does not significantly elevate ACTH, cortisol, or prolactin levels.
What is the value of combining Ipamorelin with CJC-1295?
Ipamorelin and CJC-1295 work through different but complementary mechanisms. Ipamorelin, as a GHRP, amplifies GH pulses, while CJC-1295, as a GHRH agonist, provides baseline stimulation. The combination produces a synergistic effect—CJC-1295 increases GH pulse amplitude, while Ipamorelin enhances pulse frequency and intensity. This combination is widely used in research, with the short-acting CJC-1295 (no DAC) + Ipamorelin combination considered one of the standard protocols for GH release studies.
Does Ipamorelin have research value for muscle synthesis?
Yes. The GH/IGF-1 axis plays a critical role in muscle protein synthesis and satellite cell activation. Studies suggest that Ipamorelin, through promoting GH release, can increase muscle mass, reduce muscle breakdown, and accelerate post-exercise muscle repair. This makes it potentially valuable in sports medicine and musculoskeletal injury research.
