CJC-1295 Research Peptide: Name and Record Boundaries
An identity-boundary audit for CJC-1295 names, PubChem Compound/Substance records, PubMed citations, and catalogue-to-lot joins.

CJC-1295 research peptide is not a single proof object. The phrase can point to a literature name, a PubChem record, or a seller’s label. An audit should keep those layers separate before treating any identifier as a material identity.
Split the label into claims
Record the exact spelling “CJC-1295,” any hyphen or capitalization variant, and the page or document where it appears. A label is a search key. It does not, by itself, state a sequence, analog design, salt, conjugation, or batch identifier.
Use the PubChem Compound result as one defined record
PubChem’s PUG REST compound-by-name query returns CID 91971820 with the title “Cjc 1295.” The same response exposes a molecular formula, molecular weight, connectivity SMILES, and InChIKey. These are fields of that PubChem Compound record. They can identify what record was retrieved, but they do not certify that a catalogue item or lot has the same structure.
Do not silently turn the connectivity string into a claimed amino-acid sequence. If a material file does not explicitly provide sequence, termini, modifications, counterion, or formulation, record those fields as not reported.
Keep Substance records plural
The PubChem Substance endpoint for the same name returns multiple SIDs, including 249820120, 319401640, and 349982627. Substance records are depositor submissions. A list of SIDs does not select a seller, manufacturer, current inventory, or lot, and it is not evidence that all returned records describe one interchangeable material.
Read papers as citation records, not batch records
PubMed indexes a 2006 randomized trial record (PMID 16352683) and a separate 2006 clinical-trial record (PMID 17018654), both using CJC-1295 in their titles. PubMed supplies citation and abstract metadata for those publications; it does not connect their study material to a present catalogue item or batch. The study titles also do not resolve every chemical field needed for a lot-level identity match.
Apply a record-join test

Stop at the last completed stage. A PubChem CID cannot fill an absent lot number, and a DOI cannot prove that a seller’s label uses the same analog, salt, or formulation.
Log the unresolved identity edges
Use “not established from the cited record” when a page supplies only the short name, when a structure link is missing, or when a lot document cannot be tied to the catalogue identifier. Do not resolve a conflict by borrowing a sequence from an unrelated paper or by treating a matching name as an equivalence claim.
What these records do not prove
Neither PubChem nor PubMed establishes purity, sterility, stability, activity, safety, regulatory approval, supplier responsibility, manufacturing role, current stock, or suitability for a human, veterinary, or laboratory protocol. A database record is not a product certificate, and a paper citation is not a batch release document.
Keep the source trail reproducible
Save the full endpoint URL, record ID, returned field names, DOI or PMID, retrieval date, and the exact label wording. Keep this evidence note beside, and separate from, the catalogue page, certificate, receiving record, and lot file. Use a four-record comparison before calling two names equivalent
Build a worksheet with a displayed-label row, a PubChem Compound row, a specific PubChem Substance row where relevant, and a lot-document row. The label row records the exact CJC-1295 wording, item code, URL, and capture date. The Compound row records the endpoint, CID, title, and returned property fields. The Substance row records a particular SID and depositor context only when that source is actually reviewed. The lot row records the material wording, item identifier, lot or batch, document version, and issue date.
Each row has its own scope. A paper title can locate a citation record but cannot choose among SIDs. A CID can identify a returned database record but cannot identify a received container. A catalogue identifier can identify a displayed listing but cannot create a missing lot link. When fields do not match, preserve the conflict and state the last supported connection rather than borrowing identity from another record.
Catalogue context is not a batch certificate
A published research material catalogue record can capture displayed context at one time. It is not evidence of a particular sequence, lot, analytical report, or material identity. Those claims require explicit matching identifiers across the catalogue, database, document, and lot records.
